Mauro Mainardi was born in Milan in 1966.
He loves the sea and its inhabitants. Mentor and guide in this wonderful world is a great man, Andrea Ghisotti that shows him the beauty of the underwater world and helps him discovering the charm of underwater photography.
He starts shooting with a Motormarine MX10 in 1996 (old times…) then evolves with Nikon D50 with Nimar housing, Nikon 801-S with Sealux housing, Nikon F90X with Igloo housing. He comes to digital with a Nikon D200 with Sea & Sea housing and Nikon SB800 plus Subtronic Alpha flashes (and so we made a brief history of underwater photography!).
In 1998, invited by a friend who opened the Madagascar Diving Club in Nosy-Be, he decides to work as a Divemaster in the one that was still a little-known paradise island. There he widened his knowledge on the Indian Ocean's marine environment.
He rarely takes part in photocontests but his peculiarity is that when he participates, he always gets the second place! (and there are those who do not believe in destiny): Fraco sub competition in 1999, Due Mari in posse competition in 2007, MyShot competition in 2011, Ortonamare competition in 2012.
He currently cooperates as a photographer with Sportissimo Milano and Top Dive Merano.
