UWP: MIGUEL PEREIRA

Miguel Pereira was born in Funchal, Madeira Island - Portugal in 1976. Civil engineer by profession, he started diving in 2007 and, immediately started taking underwater photographs with a small compact camera. Later, in 2009 he bought his first reflex camera and underwater photography became his main passion. Nowadays he takes his camera on every single dive, and feels the need to dive as much as he can. Living in Madeira Island allows him to dive all year round, being from here the vast majority of his work. Besides Madeira Island, Miguel has dived in Porto Santo Island, Thailand, Mozambique, Red Sea (Egypt), Dominican Republic and Malaysia. Miguel believes that a big part of taking good pictures consists in observing and studying animal behaviour, knowing their habits and relationship to their environment. Currently Miguel uses a Nikon D7000 in a Nauticam Housing and Tokina 10-17, Nikkor 60 and 105 VR lenses with two Ikelite DS161 strobes.
